Who Am I?
a glimpse into my life
The most important thing in my life is my family, without a doubt. This value was instilled in me at birth, and I’ve never known anything different. I come from a family where Sunday nights are reserved for family cookouts, Wednesday nights are when the kids cook, and once a month we eat our dinner caveman style. As insignificant as this may sound to you, these few meals every week have transformed my life in unimaginable ways. It’s not the food itself that I remember, although some of the “masterpieces” my brothers and I would create are surely memorable, but the family atmosphere that I have grown to love from before I knew what the word love meant. My family has taught me to jump for my goals without fear of falling, because I know they will be there to catch me in the end. This continuous support has been evident from when I was toddler who would dive into pools before processing the fact that I didn’t know how to swim, as my parents looked out for me when I was unable to look out for myself.
I love playing sand volleyball, watching the Bachelor, spending time with my friends, learning about the Enneagram, reading, and doing escape rooms! I am the Programs Executive for a women's organization called Ryllies, and was a mentor for FAST (a Freshman Leadership Organization), in a professional women's organization called Aggie Sisters in Healthcare, and a Fish Camp Co-Chair for the Class of 2025. I previously taught my own 1 credit-hour course at Texas A&M University, with 25 students enrolled. The academic topics that interest me are math and science, especially anatomy and physiology, and the sciences that I can visualize.
I would describe myself as a hands-on learner and a visual learner, and I truly love to learn (and hope I continue to for my entire life). My work ethic is quite literally the antithesis of procrastinators, and I strive to make every single day feel productive.
My strengths are my optimistic view towards life and my undying desire to help others. This passion of mine is the reason I want to go into nursing, so I can help people for a lifetime. As a little girl, whenever asked what superpower I would want, I would always say the power to heal. I've always viewed nurses as real-life superheroes, and I am so honored and humbled to get to do this career for the rest of my life.
As far as my career aspirations go, I hope to graduate in December 2022 with my BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing), and work in a hospital in Dallas for a few years to be close to my family! After gaining confidence in my skills and knowledge, I hope to go back to school to obtain my Doctorate of Nursing Practice and work as a Nurse Practitioner.
